Top attractions: Siena Pinacoteca Nazionale | Weekend in Italy

Fine settimana in italia -Weekend in Italy !

Top attractions: Siena Pinacoteca Nazionale
October 12, 2018-12:00 pm-Art and culture
As it often happens in Italy, a museum is not only packed to the rafters with masterpieces, but it is a masterpiece by itself. The Siena Pinacoteca Nazionale is no exception!
The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena is one of the most important national museum of the city.
The museum site was originally a pair of separate buildings – Palazzi – in Via San Pietro (just 0.5km / 0.3mi from Piazza del Campo): the Palazzo Pannocchieschi – Brigidi (XIV Century) and the Palazzo Bichi – Buonsignori (XV Century).
In the XIX Century the Palazzo Bichi – Buonsignori Façade has been redesigned according to the neo – medieval style, to match the Palazzo Pubblico (town hall, the main Piazza del Campo palace).
The Pinacoteca is – of course! – the most important museum in Italy about the Sienese Middle Ages and Renaissance art, with works spanning from the XIV to the XVII Century.
Moreover, the Spannocchi – Piccolomini collection, donated to the city of Siena by the Spannocchi – Piccolomini family in 1835, comprehends Flemish, Dutch and German paintings, such as a Saint Jerome by Albrecht Dürer and a masterpiece by the Venetian painter Lorenzo Lotto: a Nativity.
But going back to the Sienese Art, some of the main works are from Duccio di Buoninsegna, Guido da Siena, Simone Martini, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, Il Sodoma and Domenico Beccafumi.
Duccio’s Madonna Of The Franciscans (1300) is a beautiful example of Proto – Renaissance Sienese art.
The Blessed Agostino Novello Altarpiece by Simone Martini (1324) is a work that will let you feel all the warmth and richness of the Medieval art.
The St. Michael Expelling the Rebel Angels by Beccafumi, around 1528, is a completely different work, with an attention for chiaroscuro which somehow anticipates the Caravaggio’s light.
The Pinacoteca is not only paintings: statues and reliquaries ice the top, along with the Galognano’s treasure, a hoard of beautiful barbarian everyday objects, and temporary exhibitions.

About Marrakech

Marrakech is a city that captures all your senses, where your head constantly turns to capture every sight, smell and sound. A vibrant combination of energy and movement, the chaos and character of Marrakech are truly addictive, with a winding maze of market streets that keep you entertained for hours.
Things to do
Although there are specific sites of Marrakech, the true experience of the city can only be grasped by wandering its streets. Start by diving into the heart of the old town, the Medina, which is full of colourful market stalls selling everything you can imagine, from spices to carpets, jewellery to tajine dishes.
Follow the echoing calls to prayer to the main mosques of the city. Designed in Islamic architecture, the Koutoubia Mosque is defined by its large square and tall minaret tower that illuminates every evening. There is also a Jewish quarter in the city, containing cemeteries and synagogues that capture the diverse heritage of Morocco.
The Museum of Marrakech reveals the artisan history of the city, displaying ornately tiled walls, painted wooden floors and crafts from ancient artists and contemporary people, including the Berber culture and nomadic mountain communities.
Gueliz is the modern European centre of the city, home to chain stores and westernised restaurants. For the most authentic cuisine, wait until the evening when makeshift bistros are created under white tents, and vendors sell Moroccan delicacies like tajine and harira soup.
Getting around
With its labyrinth of streets, the medina can only be explored by foot. The outskirts of the city are traversable by bus, taxi or caleche, a romantic horse and carriage.

Experience The Dream Of Traveling To Hong Kong !

About Hong Kong

With its flashing lights and towering skyscrapers, Hong Kong offers one of the world’s most recognisable skylines. Yet when visitors explore beneath the towers and the narrow streets they’ll find atmospheric local markets, restaurants, and temples. Travel a few minutes from the skyscrapers and Hong Kong transforms into a place of beaches, remote islands, and idyllic villages.
Hong Kong is famous for a series of islands lying just off the coast of China. However, a large part of the territory is connected to mainland China. This land culminates in Kowloon, the vibrant peninsula district that is amongst the most densely populated places in the world. While it can look chaotic and crowded at first glance, the vibrant atmosphere makes Kowloon an iconic part of the Hong Kong experience and one of the world’s most unique travel destinations.
Just across the water from Kowloon is Hong Kong Island, packed with huge skyscrapers and a famous waterfront. This is the famous Hong Kong skyline and the best views come from The Peak, a mountain rising above the cityscape. Every evening, a dazzling light and fireworks show fills 44 skyscrapers around Victoria Harbour in Kowloon, with the best views found on the Hong Kong Island promenade. Another side of Hong Kong is found on the Outlying Islands, where small beaches and quirky villages offer a relaxed atmosphere. The large Lantau island is filled with beaches and mountains, as well as being the home of Disneyland and Hong Kong International Airport. Express trains provide the quickest travel from the airport to Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.
Most visitors get around using the MRT system, a network of underground and overground rail lines. These are complemented by traditional double-decker city trams and local buses. The most scenic way to connect the islands is by public ferry.
Formerly a British territory, Hong Kong is a specially administered region of China that has its own border and immigration. It has its own entry requirements and most visitors don’t need a visa, unlike when visiting mainland China. However, note that anyone visiting Hong Kong then returning to China will need a double or multiple entry Chinese visa.
